Adeeba Kamarulzaman

Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman is a Professor of Medicine and Infectious Diseases, as well as the Pro Vice Chancellor and President of Monash University, Malaysia. Prior to this appointment, she was the Dean of Medicine at Universiti Malaya and is the Immediate Past President of the International AIDS Society. She is also, currently, Co-Chair of the World Health Organization (WHO) Science Council.

Kamarulzaman has dedicated her career to the prevention, treatment, and research of infectious diseases and HIV/AIDS and is a strong advocate for HIV prevention, treatment, and care programs, especially in key populations. In 2007, Dr. Kamarulzaman established the Centre of Excellence for Research in AIDS (CERiA) at the University of Malaya (Malaysia). She has served on numerous technical and advisory committees for the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), WHO, and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and is a member of the Malaysian Health Advisory Council.

She joined the Global Commission on Drug Policy in 2022.
