Governance
The Global Commission is an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization hosted by the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva, Switzerland. The Global Commission is governed on rotation by a Steering Committee composed of five Commissioners: Helen Clark (Chair), Louise Arbour, Ruth Dreifuss, Michel Kazatchkine, Juan Manuel Santos. The Steering Committee convenes three times per year.
All Commissioners act on a voluntary, non-remunerated capacity. The Global Commission convenes annually, at its plenary meeting.
The Geneva-based Secretariat coordinates and supports the implementation of the Global Commission’s activities. It oversees publications and knowledge disseminated by the Global Commission and organizes events and outreach. The Global Commission also counts on a wide network of experts and partners who – since its inception – continue to contribute to its work.
The Global Commission operates according to the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion.
