6 November 2025 – Johannesburg, South Africa

Speaking at the G20 Health Ministerial in Johannesburg, South Africa, Global Commission on Drug Policy Chair Helen Clark underscored the urgent need for renewed multilateral cooperation and sustained investment in equitable, resilient health systems.
Drawing on her experience leading international initiatives in global health and pandemic preparedness, she cautioned that declining trust in multilateralism, combined with the pressures of conflict, climate change, and economic instability, risks reversing hard-won public health gains.
Her remarks reinforced a central message shared by the Global Commission on Drug Policy: that evidence-based, inclusive, and health-centered approaches are essential to building trust in institutions and achieving better health outcomes worldwide.
