27 September – Geneva, Switzerland

Nuit Blanche, a harm reduction initiative addressing recreational and party drug use in Geneva, Switzerland, celebrated its 20th anniversary on 27 September, marking two decades of engagement in Geneva’s nightlife and party scenes.
The day began with a peer and partner network gathering at the Haute école de travail social Genève, bringing together individuals involved in nightlife harm reduction and peer support from across Switzerland. The program featured a roundtable discussion entitled « La RDR pour les mineur·e·s : jusqu’où allons-nous ? » (“Harm Reduction for Minors: How Far Do We Go?) with the participation of Commissioner Ruth Dreifuss, addressing harm reduction approaches. The panel also included Jean Félix Savary, Director of the Haute Ecole de Travail Social (HETS) in Geneva); Alessandro Cassini, Médecin cantonal, République et canton de Genève (Chief Medical Officer, Geneva State); and Samuel Goldstein, a social worker at Scène Active.
Later, an anniversary party was held, where attendees had access to free, anonymous, and confidential on-site drug-checking services offering both qualitative and quantitative analyses. The events highlighted Nuit Blanche’s ongoing role in providing information, support, and services to reduce the health and social risks associated with recreational drug use, while fostering collaboration among harm reduction practitioners and peers.
