On 18 September, the Global Commission on Drug Policy, represented by Commissioner Ruth Dreifuss, met with Barrister Aqeel Malik, Minister of State for Law and Justice of Pakistan. Accompanied by Sarah Belal, Executive Director, and Haris Zaki, Team Lead for Policy and Advocacy, at Justice Project Pakistan (JPP), the discussion focused on Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to align drug policy with human rights principles, implement evidence- and rights-based reforms, address prison overcrowding, and explore opportunities for international collaboration to advance harm reduction and proportional sentencing reforms.
